Banner Plant have an array of divisions from plant hire to powered access, tool hire and site accommodation, so having a rental solution that can cater for their extensive requirements is crucial. Banner Plant was also seeking a solution that would allow it to become more efficient and productive across its multiple branches.

We find the MCS User Days really useful, not only do you meet other people who work in the rental industry, but you also pick up a lot of tips about using the MCS software. The MCS team put together presentations on different parts of the system and you can find out about functionality you didn't know existed. You can see it in action and, in the long run, it can make your life easier. For example, we heard about the Transport Manager at a User Day which we’ve gone on to implement across the business.
Our team on the hire desk are using Transport Manager for arranging transport runs and have taken to it really well. It’s nice that the delivery notes come straight through back to the system with collection notes that are all signed and automatically stored in the right place in MCS-rm, it saves us lots of time and is much easier than having to do everything manually.
Our drivers have taken to the MCS mobiles and mobile apps really well. Given that some of our drivers are not at all tech savvy, we were initially worried that our team would struggle with the mobile apps but they are so intuitive and simple to use that we’ve had no problems whatsoever. Our drivers can easily go through the options on site and get a signature or damage photos with no problems at all.
Our workshop staff do all their own purchase orders and we do all our invoicing via MCS-rm. Even the hire desk take care of all the breakdowns so anything like tyre puncture repairs and hydraulic oil repairs can all be processed within MCS-rm.
The purchasing side of our business is one of the areas where we are now completely paperless and can do everything via MCS-rm. A purchase order can be created, given to the supplier and then the invoices come straight back to us with the PO numbers on.
It works really well for us. We know what’s been done to each machine and now we’re confident when we confirm back to head office that accounts can pay for it. It is quite simple actually and all runs really smoothly for us.
We like to use reports to keep tabs on who’s spending what and they are really useful. All of the managers can run reports themselves so we can monitor each depot individually as well as compare the depots with each other if we want to. This is great in terms of visibility and means we can always see what’s going on across the business.

Whenever we contact the helpdesk, the MCS team come back to us really fast. Generally, we get a call from one of the team within an hour and have a solution the very same day. They are all so helpful and always make sure you’re kept up to date and know what’s going on. It works really well and gives us peace of mind that MCS is there for us when we need them.
